MESON POQUEIRA is a family run hotel set right at the heart of the quaint and charming village of Capileira. It is the oldest hotel in the area, and what began life as a simple boarding house has now evolved into a two star Hotel with a restaurant, a bar, and a very new and attractive swimming pool area. There is a large and well kept garden with a barbecue and an outdoor bar operating in the summer months.

Typical Alpujarran tapas are served here free of charge, and in the bar inside the Hotel. Nearly all the bars and restaurants in Capileira still follow this charming and generous Spanish tradition. In the Hotel restaurant there is a choice of vegetarian and local specialty dishes such as migas (fried breadcrumbs with local mountain sausage), mutton in garlic sauce, or perhaps kid in almond sauce.

The service is friendly and efficient, and the dining room is hung with a large number of very fine watercolours and oils by the well known Japanese artist Shu Ichimura. The owners are keen art lovers who have an extensive collection of original works.

LOS LLANOS is designated as a three star Hotel Rural, and is a modern complex of facilities arranged on several terraced areas. With beautifully landscaped and maintained gardens, the complex has a natural watercourse which cascades down through the terraces adding the charm of the gentle sound of running water.

Set among the various garden terraces is a large and well appointed swimming pool with loungers and magnificent views of the mountains. There is also a barbecue and an outdoor bar area. An adjoining terrace is furnished with tables and chairs and this serves us very well as an excellent outdoor art studio.

The restaurant offers a good range of local Alpujarran dishes including vegetarian, as well as a variety of wines, and will also provide packed lunches if required. The restaurant is large and spacious and very well staffed. There is also a social lounge with a bar, a library of books in several languages, and internet facilities. Los Llanos is a small family run hotel that is smart, well run and comfortable, and very popular with Spanish tourists as well as visitors from around the globe.
